Megan Hoffert scored the match's only goal as the Texas Tech soccer team defeated Arizona State, 1-0, Saturday morning in El Paso, Texas to improve to 4-0 on the spring.

Hoffert's goal came after Katie Hinds crossed the ball to Maegan Wilber, who immediately flicked it to a waiting Hoffert at the back post. Hoffert would volley the ball past the Sun Devil goalkeeper. The goal was Hoffert's first this spring.

Goalkeeper Tina Rincon played all 90 minutes for her first shutout this spring. Rincon posted five shutouts throughout the 2007 season. The shutout is Tech's second this spring, dating back to its opening match against Central Florida February 23rd.

"We had a solid performance today against Arizona State," Tech head coach Tom Stone said. "I thought Sarabeth Clopton and Brittney Harrison were particularly good today in keeping things organized in front of them. After giving up three goals last weekend, the shutout was a welcome stat on the day. Our goal has been to keep improving throughout the spring and today we took another step in the right direction."

Arizona State finished the 2007 campaign at 10-9-1, barely missing a bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Red Raiders conclude their spring schedule tomorrow afternoon against host UTEP. The match is scheduled to begin at noon from University Field.
