Texas Tech Wins First TournamentClaims Four Shot Victory in Chip'N ClubLINCOLN, Neb. - Opening the season in strong fashion, the Texas Tech women's golf team successfully defended its 1995 title here with a four-shot victory in the 1996 54-hole Chip'N Club Invitational. Tech fired a final-round 309 to outdistance host Nebraska, 944-948. Baylor was third at 972 in the 14-team field. Texas Tech's Beth Covington, with the lowest round of the day, shot a three-over-par 74 to finish in a tie for second at 233. Lamar's Lotte Moeller shot a three-day total of 229 to win medalist honors by four strokes. Tech's Brooke Lowrance finished in a tie for eighth at 236, while Amy Marsh was alone one shot back at 237. Kristin Kight tied for 17th with a 243 total. After a slow start during the 36 holes on Monday, Tamara Parker rebounded and moved up to a tie for 29th with a final-round 76.
