Texas Tech Holds off Missouri, 79-65
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Alicia Thompson, who was held scoreless for the first
11 minutes, scored a season-high 39 points Sunday as No. 6 Texas Tech held off
Missouri 79-65.
The Lady Red Raiders (8-2, 1-0 Big 12) took control of the game with a 13-5
run in the second half. After Tanisha Johnson hit a layup to cut the Texas Tech
lead to 38-37, the Lady Red Raiders responded, extending their lead to 51-42.
Texas Tech led by as many as 15 before Missouri (8-3, 0-1) mounted its final
run. But the Tigers couldn't get any closer than 69-63 with 2:33 to play.
Kesha Bonds led Missouri with 22 points. Johnson and Debra Williams added 15
each.
Julie Lake and Rene Hanebutt added 11 points each for the Red Raiders.
Thompson led all rebounders with 13.
The Lady Red Raiders led the Tigers 33-31 at the half as Missouri's leading
scorer, Julie Helm, was held scoreless. Helm finished with four points.
