Lady Raiders improve to 8-1 in conference play.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech went on a 16-0 tear six minutes into the second half of Wednesday night's game with Texas which took the Lady Raiders from a four point deficit to a 12 point lead and Tech went on to a 79-59 victory.

Angie Braziel edged teammated Alicia Thompson by one point for game high scoring honors. Braziel scored 30 and snatched eight rebounds while Thompson pitched in 29 points to go along with 13 rebounds as the two Tech post players equaled the Lady Longhorns total output of 59 points.

Tech rebounded from a poor first half performance in which they scored a season low 23 points while shooting 33 percent from the field to score 56 second half points.

"I think Texas' game plan was to be physical with our guards and in the first half we did not react well," Tech coach Marsha Sharp said. "In the second half we were able to enter the ball inside. I thought if we could get Angie and Alicia some looks inside it would really work out for us and it did."

Katrisa O'Neal had two steals and three assists and made two free throws to help spark the Lady Raiders 16 point outburst midway throught the final 20 minutes. Texas' Angie Jackson and Vanessa Wallace were forced to leave the game with foul trouble just before Tech's decisive second half run.

"Our guards got involved, got some traps and got our hands in some passing lanes and we really got some easy offense because of it," Sharp said. "Jackson is such an offensive threat and Wallace is their floor leader and I thought it was a big factor when they left."

The win completes a regular season sweep over Texas for the Lady Raiders.

Tech ran its season record to 15-4 and 8-1 in Big 12 play and will play at Baylor on Saturday.
