LINCOLN, Neb. - The Texas Tech men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Texas Friday in the second round of the 1998 Big 12 Conference Men,s Tennis Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Cather-Pound Tennis Complex. The Red Raiders end the season with a 11-14 overall record.

Tech's lone point in the match came from senior Tylir Jimenez in No. 2 singles. Jimenez defeated the Longhorn's Jack Brasington 6-4, 6-2. The No. 5 and No. 6 singles, plus No. 1 doubles were all suspended after Texas had already captured the victory.

The Longhorns, the No. 1 seed in the contest, claimed the Big 12 regular season title with an 8-1 record. The win moves them to 22-2 overall and to a semi-final match with Baylor on Saturday.

The Red Raiders entered the tournament as the No. 8 seed, advancing to the quarterfinals after defeating Nebraska on Thursday.
