Zach Thomas and Marcus Coleman did just that in a crucial situation as the No. 22-ranked Red Raiders raced past New Mexico 34-7. With the Lobos on the verge of wiping out a 12-7 deficit just before the half, Thomas caused a fumble near the goal line and Coleman scooped it up and raced 92 yards for a touchdown as the Red Raiders won their fourth consecutive game. Dane Johnson salted away the victory when he returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown on New Mexico's first possession of the second half. It was the fifth touchdown of the season by the Tech defense - a school record. Tech matched a season high with five takeaways. Thomas had a positive influence on three turnovers. Along with his key goal line strip, he set up a field goal with a fumble recovery and he saved the day by recovering a Tech fumble on a punt return. The return game was especially effective in this one. Tech outgained New Mexico 193-5 in return yardage. Bo Adams had a pair of 25-yard punt returns
