LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's weekend baseball series with the Illinois Fighting Illini has beeen cancelled due to weather conditions in the Chicago area that is preventing the team from making the trip to Lubbock. The series opener was scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon and was set to be a four-game series.

The series cancellation now means that Texas Tech has lost eight home games as Northern Illinois was forced to cancel a four-game season opening series back two weeks ago. Ironically, the Northern Illinois Huskies are part of the Red Raiders new weekend plans.

Texas Tech will hit the road for the third consecutive week as the Red Raiders will face the Texas State and Northern Illinois this weekend in San Marcos. Texas State and Northern Illinois were scheduled to play a four-game series this weekend at Bobcat Field and both coaches have graciously allowed the Red Raiders to join in on the action. The Red Raiders will play two games against Texas State and two games against Northern Illinois.

The Red Raiders will not play until sometime on Saturday and a complete schedule will be finalized on Friday morning.
