Recap |  Box Score

  • Junior right fielder Roger Kieschnick's two doubles on the afternoon moved him into sixth place on the school's career doubles list as he now owns 41. Kieschnick was a single away from the cycle as he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and a solo home run. His solo home run in the eighth gave him his 23rd career home run.

  • Redshirt freshman Jeremy Mayo made his first career appearance today in relief of Juan Rodriguez in the seventh inning. At that point, three former Lubbock Monterey Plainsmen were on the field for the Red Raiders (Taylor Ashby, Chad Bettis and Mayo).

  • Today's game against Army marked the first-ever meeting between Tech and the U.S. Military Academy and the Red Raiders now lead the series 1-0.

  • Freshman Chad Bettis is the first true freshman to start for the Red Raiders on the mound since AJ Ramos did so his freshman season in 2006. Ramos made eight starts his first season at Tech and went 2-2.
