He comes to Texas Tech after spending the last three seasons as a baseball and basketball coach at his alma mater Liberty High School in Renton.

One of the most prolific hitters in Oregon State baseball history, Jarvis ranks in the top 10 in five different career offensive categories. He ranks first all-time at OSU in at-bats with 725, RBIs with 173 and total bases with 382. His 232 career hits ranks second on the school list while his 42 doubles is tied for third place.

After completing his four year career with the Beavers in 2003, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies where he played two seasons in the minor leagues.
